What is the Fall Symposium?
The Fall Symposium will be a one-day conference designed to provide an opportunity for Midwest Region music therapy students to gather together for community-led learning, opportunities to share and networking.
What is the Fall Symposium about?
This event, Let’s Talk: The Hard Parts of Music Therapy, offers a candid exploration of the challenges and complexities faced in the field. Through open discussions, personal reflections, and collaborative problem-solving, we’ll delve into the less talked-about aspects of music therapy, from managing client resistance to navigating emotional burnout. Come prepared to share experiences, gain practical strategies, and connect with peers who understand the highs and lows of this rewarding profession. Let’s tackle the tough topics together and support one another in our journey to becoming effective, resilient music therapists.
When and where will it be held?
The Symposium will be held on Saturday, October 27th, from 10-2:30 pm CST. This event will be held virtually. The link will be sent to each person that registers.
Can your school be a satellite site?
Absolutely! We would love for each school to have a place where students can gather and participate in symposiums together. This event is a low stake event that can be attended from anywhere, but we would LOVE if your school wanted to host this event!
What can we expect?
This event features a series of workshops designed by students for students. Dive into the world of music technology and explore the latest tools and techniques that are transforming the way we create and experience music. In our songwriting sessions, students will explore various techniques for crafting compelling lyrics and melodies, guided by hands-on exercises and peer feedback. These workshops offer a supportive environment to refine your songwriting skills and experiment with new ideas, helping you to develop your unique musical voice. Our symposium is for students led by the MWRAMTAS executive board.
